The highly qualified and experienced team of experts at Oregon Urology Alliance are committed to providing comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions affecting the urological system. Some of our surgical services include the following:
- Artificial Urinary Sphincter
- An artificial urinary sphincter or AUS is a mechanical device that can restore control of urine to men who have stress urinary incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence is the loss of urine when the pressure inside the bladder increases, such as during coughing, sneezing, or lifting a heavy object.
- Circumcision
- Circumcision is the surgical removal of some or the entire foreskin covering the head or glans (rounded tip) of the penis. The procedure is performed for cultural or religious reasons, or for health reasons. It is a safe surgical procedure if performed by a trained, experienced practitioner, using a strict aseptic (sterile) technique.
- Circumcision Revision
- Circumcision is the surgical removal of some or the entire foreskin covering the head or glans (rounded tip) of the penis. It is a safe surgical procedure if performed by a trained, experienced practitioner, using a strict aseptic technique and if performed on a healthy, stable infant.
- Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy
- A Direct Vision Internal Urethrotomy, also called a DVIU, is a procedure for the treatment of urethral strictures. Urethral strictures are a narrowing of the urethral that can cause difficulty with urination and changes with ejaculation.
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy
- Lithotripsy, often referred to as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), is the most common procedure for the management of kidney stones (renal lithiasis). It uses shock waves to break up stones that form in the kidney, bladder or ureter, enabling easy passage of the fragments out of the body within the urine.
- Female Mid-Urethral Sling
- A Mid-Urethral Sling is a polypropylene mesh that is surgically placed to support the natural continence mechanisms of the urethra. Three types are available; retropubic, transobturator, and “mini” slings. These differ in how they are placed, but all serve the same role of supporting the urethra to treat stress urinary incontinence.
- Greenlight Laser Prostatectomy
- Greenlight laser prostatectomy is a safe, effective and efficient treatment to ease the urinary symptoms in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), enlargement of the prostate gland.
- Hydrocelectomy
- A hydrocelectomy is a surgery for treatment of a hydrocele. A hydrocele is a benign collection of fluid surrounding a testicle. Hydroceles can happen after injury, infection, inflammation, or may occur without any clear source.
- Inflatable Penile Prosthesis
- An inflatable penile prosthesis is an implant that replaces the normal erectile function of the penis. Simply put, it is a device that allows you to have a natural feeling erection on demand.
- Interstim Implantation
- A sacral neurostimulator, commonly referred to by the popular brand name “InterStim”, is a small battery connected to a computer chips that delivers precise electrical current to nerves leaving your spinal cord, in a way that can significantly reduce or eliminate urinary urgency (the sudden and uncomfortable urge to urinate) and fecal incontinence (unexpected release of feces).
- Male Urethral Sling
- A male urethral sling is a surgery for treatment of stress urinary incontinence. Loss of urine unexpectedly with coughing, laughing, or other things that increase the pressure of the abdomen is called stress incontinence.
- Malleable Penile Prosthesis
- A Malleable Penile Prosthesis, sometimes referred to as a semi-rigid penile prosthesis, is a permanent implant used to restore erectile function in men who cannot get erections on their own.
- Nephrectomy
- Nephrectomy is removal of the kidney. This can be performed for treatment of cancer, non-functional or chronically infected kidney, severe kidney stone disease, or other, less common reasons. Nephrectomy is considered a major surgical procedure, but technological advances have greatly lowered the discomfort associated to the procedure and shortened the recovery time.
- Percutaneous Nephrolithtomy
- A Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy, also referred to as a PCNL, it a procedure used for treatment of large stones within the kidney. In this procedure a thin tube is placed into the kidney through the back, and a specially designed device is used to break up the stone and remove the pieces.
- Pyeloplasty
- Pyeloplasty is a surgery to repair an abnormal narrowing of the drainage system of the kidney. Normally the urine produced by the kidney is collected into the renal pelvis, which then drains smoothly in the ureter.
- Robotic Prostatectomy
- Prostate cancer is malignant cancer that can spread to the lymph nodes, bones and other parts of the body. It is a common cancer in older men and can be fatal. Robotic radical prostatectomy is a minimally invasive approach to surgically remove the prostate gland, along with the seminal vesicles which are attached to it. The urethral stump is then sutured to the neck of the bladder to allow urination.
- SpaceOAR Rectal Spacer
- SpaceOAR Hydrogel is an injectable medication that is designed to separate organs to increase safety during radiation treatment.
- Spermatocelectomy
- Excision of spermatocele, also called “spermatocelectomy”, is the surgical removal of a spermatocele from your testicle (the male reproductive organ).
- Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumors (TURBT)
- Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is a procedure used to diagnose bladder cancer, and remove any tumor or cancerous tissue from the bladder.
-
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate
- The prostate gland is an sexual organ found in menthat sits below the bladder. The urethra, which carries urine from the bladder to the penis and out of the body, travels through the center of the prostate. The gland grows with age and in some men can compress the urethra as it grows.
- Urethral Bulking
- Urethral bulking is a procedure to treat a condition called stress urinary incontinence (SUI) usually in women. Stress urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine during activities that exert stress on the bladder, such as running, heavy lifting, hi-intensity exercises, coughing, laughing, and sneezing.
- Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy
- Ureteroscopy is a procedure that involves the use of a thin, long tube called a ureteroscope, to examine, diagnose and treat urinary tract problems. The ureteroscope is most commonly used for the diagnosis and treatment of kidney stones but is also indicated for the treatment of various conditions such as frequent urinary tract infections, urinary blockage, hematuria (blood in the urine), unusual cell growth or tumor in the ureters (the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder). Ureteroscopes may be flexible, semi-rigid, or rigid.
- Urolift Placement
- UroLift is a novel implantable therapy for uncomfortable or difficult urination due to a large prostate. UroLift does not destroy the tissue of the prostate, but instead open the urethra by pull the sides of the prostate outward.
